Hops has for many years been used primarily as a source of bitterness, but with the emergence of the many craft brewers, increased focus has been put on the aromas from hops as well. The Scandinavian School of Brewing have invited Matthew Brynildson (Firestone Walker and Hop Growers of America) to lecture on hops for our Master Brewer students and you are invited to join in on this occation. We have also invited representatives from two Danish micro breweries to present their experience with Danish grown hops and with dry hopping.

The Masterclass is for all with a special interest in hops and understanding of the processes of beer brewing.


10:00                 Welcome by Gitte Gross, director of the Scandinavian School of Brewing.

10:05                 Danish grown hops – experience from growing and using in Danish micro-brewed beer.

11:00                 Dry hopping – experience from a Danish craft brewery.

12:00                 Lunch in the canteen at University of Copenhagen, Frederiksberg Campus

13:00                 Matthew Brynildson, Hop Growers of America: lectures on hops growing, botany, cultivation, processing, products, chemistry, aroma, flavour and hopping techniques.

18:00                 End of Masterclass

The Masterclass takes place 11th February 2016 at 10:00-18:00 at University of Copenhagen, Thorvaldsensvej 40, 1871 Frederiksberg, Room A2-71.02.

The price of the Masterclass is DKK 3.000, excl. VAT.
